Praise Place is a workshop-rotational Sunday School program.  Children are divided into three groups: preschool and kindergarten, first and second grades, and third through fifth grades.  Groups rotate among three or four workshops, with varied activities based on a monthly theme.  Workshops explore story telling, games, cooking, dramatic arts, movies, and crafts.  Catechism and high school youth gather in their own classes each week.

Each Sunday begins with a brief welcome and music time, as well as a praise offering where children offer thanks and praise to God for something good in their lives.

We are looking for teachers for all ages and grades, including junior and senior high classes.  Your teaching commitment is just three weeks – although we’d be delighted if you’d like to do more.  Lessons and supplies are already planned and prepared; all you need to do is come on Sunday morning and share God’s love and word with the children.  Interested?  Contact Shannon Johnson (889-4865 or shannon@nejohnson.com).

Praise Place Singers - Occassionally during our 11:00 worship service, children from our Sunday School sing songs that they learn during their gathering time.

What is Praise Place?

Each Sunday from 9:45am to 10:45am, the children and friends of CHLC are meeting to praise God and learn about His teachings and word.  Praise Place, a workshop-rotational Sunday school program, is open to children preschool-age through fifth grade.  The children are divided into three groups: Preschool and kindergarten, first and second grades, and third through fifth grades.  Our curriculum is based on a monthly theme, which correlates with the church lectionary.  During each month the groups rotate among three or four workshops, enjoying a different workshop each week.  Workshops include: Peter and Paul’s Playstation--reading and re-telling the selected Bible story and reviewing its meaning and importance through a variety of activities; Mary and Martha’s Kitchen—exploring the lessons through cooking and food related activities; How Great Thou Art Studio—reading and reviewing a Bible story and creating an artistic reminder of the story; Acts of the Apostles Theater—exploring dramatic talents to get a hands-on, real-life learning experience; and WTLC—watching a movie or creating a television show related to the monthly theme.  We begin each Sunday at 9:45am in the Gathering Room, first-floor education unit, with a brief welcome, introduction and music time, as well as a Praise offering where children offer thanks to God for something good in their lives.  For more information about Praise Place, please contact Shannon Johnson at 889-4865 or Shannon@nejohnson.com.

Praise Place Opportunities

Would you like to help children learn about God’s love? Can’t make a long-term teaching commitment?  Then Praise Place would be a great way to spend one hour on Sunday morning!  We are looking for smiling faces and caring individuals to share God’s love with our children.  For just three weeks, each teacher team-teaches with another individual, maybe a spouse, a friend, a child, another parent.  Of course, you are always welcome to teach more if you wish!  Praise Place teachers can be young, young at heart, children or no children, —ANYBODY!  The lessons and supplies are already prepared, all you need to do is come on Sunday morning and share God’s love and word with the children.  Sound like fun?  Sign-up in the narthex!
