v     One 6 oz. box of stuffing mix –chicken flavor

v     1 can chicken broth

v     Two cans of any vegetable

v     One can chicken gravy

  <>Got an Extra Turkey?

The Clintonville Resources Center is putting together Thanksgiving baskets for <>area needy families and is in need of turkeys to fill them.  At a recent meeting of seven Clintonville area pastors, each one set a goal of providing ten turkeys. Baskets are distributed the week of Thanksgiving – beginning Monday, November 24 – so we need the birds by Sunday November 23.  If you have an extra turkey this holiday season, please bring it to the freezer  behind the basement door so that we can help with this project.

Election Day Bake Sale

It’s a big one!  WELCA is sponsoring a Bake Sale on November 4th.  We can use cookies, candy, quick breads, decorated cakes or any special goodies you can provide.  Volunteers are needed for pricing and set up the night before.  All proceeds are donated to our local Clintonville/Beechwold Community Resources Center.  Call Nancy Labuhn, 267-5227, with questions.

Mitten Tree

< style="font-family: arial;">Winter caps and gloves are being gathered for children of Lutheran Social Services Food Pantry clients. During November, you may bring children’s and teens’ cap and/or gloves to pin on the Mitten Tree in the church parlor.  While you are in the parlor, pick up a FREE Clinton Heights tree ornament – a “thank you” from WELCA for the congregation’s generous support of all the mission projects sponsored by the Women of the Church.

Shampoo Collection

Once again, we are collecting 15 ounce bottles of shampoo for the Christmas Care Packages for patients at the Frazier Health Facility at Orient State Institute, a medium-security prison south of Columbus.  Our goal is 110 bottles, and we will collect them during the month of November.  Please bring your donations to the narthex where there is a collection basket.

Faith Mission Dinner

Members from Clinton Heights will provide food, prepare & serve dinner at Faith Mission on Sunday Decemer 14th from 5 to 6:15 PM. Sign up poster is in the narthex of the church beginning November 16th. Any questions or concerns, contact Elaine Botkin at 263-3471.

Pennies for the Red Eyes

Women in some areas of Africa are often ostracized and sometimes killed because of the mistaken belief that their red eyes are signs of evil or witchcraft.  Their red eyes are, in fact, caused by open cooking fires.  An ongoing project of the Southern Ohio Synod WELCA, Pennies for Red Eye, provides funds to educate the public in Africa of the true cause of red eyes. Women are being rescued from certain death and are being trained in a trade such as sewing so they can support themselves.  They receive living expenses during this time and  are nurtured in the faith of our Lord and Savior.  Clinton HeightsWELCA circles are collecting pennies for this fund.  You are invited to donate your loose change.  Look for the designated container in the church narthex.

Bring on the Baby Food!

The Youth of the church are collecting jars of baby food during the month of October.  All food collected will be delivered to the Lutheran Social Services Food Pantry in November.  Look for a box in the narthex, as well as one in the Education Unit lobby, for your donations.  Our goal is 100 jars of baby food.  Track our progress on the poster in the narthex.

New Endowment Fund Created

to Assist with Church Operations

A new endowment fund has been created to enhance the ministry of Clinton Heights by providing income that may be used for the general operations of the congregation as established in the annual church budget.
  <>
This fund was established by a generous stock contribution from Ruth Cahill.  The stock was sold and the proceeds of $26,863 formed the beginning balance in what is called the Current Use Endowment (CUE).  This is in contrast to the church’s existing endowment, established in 1999, which is now called the Congregational Outreach Endowment Fund.  At the end of July this endowment had a balance of $98,141.  <>
Both funds are administered by a five-member Congregational Endowment Fund Committee, the members of which are appointed by Church Council.  The principal in both endowments remains intact.  Allocations from the endowments are made from interest earned on the principal.  <>
The Endowment Committee voted to establish the CUE fund, with Church

Council approval, because of concerns that in recent years congregational annual giving has not met budgeted levels.  The guidelines under which the original Outreach Endowment Fund was established specifically prohibit any income being used to assist the church’s annual operating budget.

New brochures describing both endowment funds will be enclosed with November’s issue of the Bellringer.  The members of the Endowment Fund Committee urge everyone in the congregation to read these short brochures.  While the committee members encourage contributions to either endowment, they point out that such support should not be at the expense of annual giving.

<>In addition to chair Vern Cahill, other members of the Endowment Committee include Bob Hightshoe, Helen Ish, Randy Ketcham, Martha Ratliff and Pastor Wolfe.  All of these people will be happy to answer any questions concerning either endowment.

Blankets for Good Neighbor Picnic

 v     dark,-colored wash cloth
v     bath-size bar (4-5 oz) of soap, in original wrap
v     adult-sized toothbrush in original packaging
v     comb (wide tooth preferred), remove packaging
v     metal nail for OR nail clipper with file attached (do not substitute cardboard emery boards for file)
v     six band-aids, ½” to ¾”, secured with rubber band

All items should be new and in good condition.  Wrap smaller items in the washcloth; wrap washcloth and remaining items in the towel and tie securely with ribbons or yarn.  Do not use plastic bags.  Do not include toothpaste.  Bring your kits to the church parlor or to WELCA circle meetings.
