Election Day Bake Sale
It’s a big one!
WELCA is sponsoring a Bake Sale on November
4th. We can use cookies,
candy, quick breads, decorated cakes or any special goodies you can
provide. Volunteers are needed for pricing
and set up
the night before. All proceeds are
donated to our local Clintonville/Beechwold Community Resources Center. Call Nancy Labuhn, 267-5227, with questions.
Mitten Tree
< style="font-family: arial;">
Winter
caps and gloves are being
gathered for children >
of
Lutheran Social Services Food Pantry clients. During
November, you
may bring children’s and teens’ cap and/or gloves to pin on
the Mitten Tree in the church parlor.
While
you are in the parlor, pick up a FREE
Clinton Heights tree ornament – a “thank you” from WELCA for the
congregation’s
generous support of all the mission projects sponsored by the Women of
the
Church.
Shampoo
Collection
Once again, we are
collecting 15 ounce bottles
of shampoo for the Christmas Care Packages for patients at the Frazier
Health
Facility at Orient State Institute, a medium-security prison south of Columbus. Our goal is 110 bottles, and we will collect
them during the month of November. Please
bring your donations to the narthex
where there is a collection basket.
Pennies
for the Red Eyes
Women in some areas of Africa
are often ostracized and sometimes killed because of the mistaken
belief that
their red eyes are signs of evil or witchcraft.
Their red eyes are, in fact, caused by open cooking fires. An ongoing project of the Southern Ohio Synod
WELCA, Pennies for Red Eye, provides funds to educate the public in Africa of the true cause of red eyes. Women are
being
rescued from certain death and are being trained in a trade such as
sewing so
they can support themselves. They
receive living expenses during this time and are
nurtured in the faith of our Lord and Savior.
Clinton
Heights’ WELCA circles are collecting
pennies for this fund. You are invited
to donate your loose change. Look for
the designated container in the church narthex.
